car accident
you kno how they say there are certain things you need to experience at least once in your life? some say it is accomplishing something great like running a marathon, others getting your heart-broken, and yet others talk about facing fears. well theres another one...getting into a car accident.
im driving southbound lake shore drive, on a beautiful tuesday morning...at approximately 7:10am. my mind was fresh and excited about teaching my kids...a new attitude, positive, ready to go forward...
in the left lane, i pass balbo and i see a left merge arrow flashing ahead so i carefully get into the lane over...its early enough where there isnt much traffic, so we're going at a decent speed. suddenly a taxi brakes to a complete stop in front of me. i quickly brake with all my might and my car comes to a stop, inches from the taxi (luckily, like the ever so good driver i am, i had enough space between me and the car in front of me...) yet before my mind could think of any other bit of detail or even sigh a moment of relief...

my rear becomes the brake for the car behind me, which spins slightly upon impact, moving into the left lane, where another vehicle apparently crashes into it.
so here is my fancy diagram...

praise God that we were all walking and alive after the whole situation...though i have been in the er and dealing with some issues and pains in my neck and head (with the assistance of some fancy meds that i never thought id have the honor of saying i was "on").
God is intriguing. am i bitter? no. am i sad? no. i am reminded that i am not in control. that i am not a machine (meaning i do need my rest...) that He is good.
for those of you who may kno the beg of the school year stories, heres the irony of it all...as i remained laying in the hospital and at home for the past days...i began to miss my kids terribly. i made a brief appearance on thursday due to a state test my kids had to take, and i will say, it was wonderful to see them.
when will i be back back back? who knows. doc says maybe 4-6 weeks or 3 months.
so cliche but really, life is never a guaranteed "product."
as for that major car accident to be experienced in my life time?
check.
